Many of you are already acquainted with me from my previous handle PressCore.
My name is Bruce to those who regard me as friend. I previously joined the old
prototype od our current.boards.net social interactive community in June, 2008
upon clicking a kink in the New York Time online article I was reading & blogging.
I didn't start when Current.com was born back in 2005 I think. But I was amazed
with it throughout the nearly 5 years until they pulled the power from their server
yesterday. I wished they'd given us twice the length of notice they did, so I could
have downloaded the thousands of articles I blogged relying on their links to be
active. I'm somewhat of a Historian & librarian. I would have liked to have been
able to upload those files to our former Current.com members. I would also have
liked to Email many more non active members than I did to invite them to here.
FreeSpiritMuse isn't the only soul Current.com made them feel unimportant. The
thing I'll miss most about the old Current.com is the 3954 registered members.
The last download I was able to make before they pulled the plug was to
archive all 3954 members onto my harddrive. I feared anything I tried to save
by Email, Blogspot blog, or Starred bookmarked page blog would be to no avail
once they pulled the power to their server. I was right. I'll never miss several
of the the Current.com's management though I will miss SG Whites, and Ruiz.
Shedding the old Current.com is realy a very good thing now that we've reached
current reborn. In loosing our old meeting hall, we lost the tyranical moderators,
the trolls, the immature people obsessed with religion & politics, the ignorant
who equated Republicanism with devil worship, and all those with a destructive
agenda, as well as the trespassers there to spread propaganda, enflame others.
I loved the simplicity of the old Current.com format, but I'm ashamed at those of
them who never valued all the good features jettisoned like a balloon loosing
altitude. The old Current.com management turned off, drove away an awefull
lot of those I considered to be very good people. As far back as 2009, people
were openly saying goodby. I had to Email Delia the Artist repeatedly asking
her to not let them get to her. Me, I'm the most constant, persistent, tenacious
person you'll ever meet anywhere. We Sun people never give up. Only clouds
get in our way. I suggest those of us who emigrated here from Current.com
avoid any mention of " hotspot topics " religion and politics because they drag
us down. Instead we should seek to post articles that induce fascination and
wonderment. PJacobs51, and Remanns used to post Science and Art oriented
articles that lifted us up. Ethical Vegan liked them so much she diverted from
simply posting about animal situations and started posting about astronomy.
Imo, we should immitate all the good things we saw posted on Current.com.
And shun the deleterious things. Like that hokey old song from the 1940s. my
parents like to quote: " Accentuate the positive, avoid the negative, don't
mess with anything in between " As Steve Martin says: " Athiests don't have
no songs to sing, man. " Lol. Oh, and our motto here in New York: Excelsior !
