Hugs, Coolplanet. I know you really liked the site. Thanks HarukoHaruhara. Hugs to you too! I wish we could make this site a little more like Current's format. We need a featured stories section at the top and a more streamlined home page. V is doing a fantastic job but I'm afraid the way it is now it won't attract users. Hopefully the upgrade will give her more options.

At least I got in an appropriate song at the very last hour of Current
"Closing time Open all the doors and let you out into the world Closing time Turn all of the lights on over every boy and every girl Closing time One last call for alcohol so finish your whiskey or beer Closing time You don't have to go home but you can't stay here "

My, that was rude of them. Just "Poof" - nothing official, except a couple of staff saying goodbye. Oh, well - onward and upward!

- - - just , . . .so damn sad. Didnt expect this much emotion. I'm sad too Remanns but HAPPY to see you here. What would it have been like if it had disappeared like it did with their slick, new, stylish website and we had no place to go?

It's a strange time on the WEB these days. Current was a good place to voice. If you want to cause havoc to Tea Baggers types, there is the SoadaHead website you could drop in to get a few! I was there & many places during the Tea Party times. Set up your security on your system first! I am still working on my stories on Current, the archive. I have a mess of stuff to workout. my.opera.com/walmart-ramen/bloghome.dbdbdugbug.operaunite.com/W/content/Current-StorysAnd I am here also.

TYVM I was glad I got the reply in on Current just under the wire. Honestly, my experience with Current.com management is that's typical of how they operated. That would've been true of most things they did, but not in this case since they did give almost a month of warning, so what difference does it make if was yesterday or 10 days more? Most people were expecting it sooner rather than later anyway.

In a way I was relieved it was finally gone, instead of checking every day to see if it was there knowing it would not be one day. That day has come and gone and here we are.

I'm with Classical Gas. I thought it was rude also how Current handled the closing of the Community. They could've told us that May 20th was going to be the last day and we all could've said "goodbye" one last time. I'm sad.

Unfortunately, reading Victor's B.S. made me really, really angry.
I just need to disconnect from Current. It's in the past now.

Hello again, BravaTravels. Am glad to see you emigrated to current reborn. To me, Current.com was like an oasis in the middle of a vast desert. But it was owned by a Corporation with the corporate mentality. I joined up with it in June, 2008 which was after it had reached it's Zenith. I didn't notice it at first, because it was also the first time in my life that I could buy a computer, be online at home,...But while I was so enthralled with our Global village, Current.com started it's descent, During Summer 2008, many were distracted with what went on in Denver and Minneapolis. But by October I started noticing people saying goodbye to friends they'd made as they felt Current.com was ignoring it's ideals. I spent over 2 weeks of my vacation reading and dowloading vital articles of interest to me, and started noticing that others were disenchanted and leaving too. Current.com's management changed, and after that people realy noticed the changes weren't for the better. In time, Vanguard, Infomania, and Erin Gibson's Modern Lady were all jetisoned. I got Emails from community members who were removed telling me what was going on. Current.com's use of a grimacing, darkened avatar slot was contemptible as it openly ridiculed those members removed. Though the words some removed used were egregious, and emotional, they were'nt bad. As their TV programs got more and more politicized, their moderaters seemed to get more obsessed with censoring. I noticed a lot of decent community members were purged and removed under the new management. And a lot more abuse they should have proactively removed, they let stand. Jan for Gore, Artemis 6, and even Molly Blum I think let me know they were Stalked on the old Current.com website. I know I was. Their management could care less. SG Whites, Jo Pietra, Ruiz behaved as some of us, and blended in. But I believe our online community was badly mismanaged by two people at the top who were very cold blooded, insensitive characters. Had they told us from the start knowing Gore sold to Al Jezeera that the online community would cease in 3 months, all archived webpages would be irretrievable by May 20, 2013, they would have shown us respect.
I loved their format, the 3954 members of our Global Village extended family. The last thing I was able to do was to download all my Emails and the 3954 souls in our community onto my hardrive. Obviously I'm a sentimental soul. All the avatar immages kindle memories of those who read my mind, those I spoke to, those who responded. But Corporations often act like mindless machines. Imo, they made their TV station so heavily policiticized they ruined it. They used that same obsession with politricks in the way they mishandled the Current.com community. They never caught on that they were only a cyber meeting hall. They never made our community. We did. By their cyberHarassing members with unwanted robotic Emails saying Your Comment Is Under Review after jetisoning the robotic Emails saying _____Thinks You'd Like To Read This, they started using tactics smacking a little of the 1960s Maoist Red Guard Purge and it's Revisionism, imo. Ther turned so many people off that they dropped out entirely without saying a word. I Emailed many community members thru Current.com who apparently dropped out. None responded. I think the word " current " was a buzzword they wanted to forget as it made them prejudiced against regrouping here because of how the old Current.com mismanaged our online community. I apologize for my lengthy writing. I must be a bit of a windbag, what...It's soooo good to see you posting here, hermana. If Vierotchka is willing to expand the graphics of this site to encompass a format that will use the social psychology of color. as the old site did. And if some of us do a web search to discretely contact our old Current.com community members without using Facebook, then who knows ? Perhaps in a year, after the trauma wears off, we may yet again resurrect all 3954 former community members of our online Global Village. I downloaded them, and as many of their avatar pages as I could, to upload... As Jesus told his Angel: Roll back the stone ! I am resurrected !

I so miss Ethical Vegan. She took the place of my dear friend Animalia Libero, who is an animal rights activist opposed to the enslavement & butchery of the helpless whom people abuse for profit, sport. The Current.com moderaters used to allow people to bait him with remarks they calculated would provoke negative sentiments from him, so often that they simply removed him. He kept on posting despite their maltreatment of him. While they still used robotic Emails to message Animalia Libero Thinks You'd Like To Read This Article, depositing it in my Google Email account... You know, I clicked the links on every one of them and they all came up OOOPS, We Can't Locate That Webpage. They deliberately sabotaged the URL links so that I couldn't blog any of my friend's hard work & to eradicate all traces of him. I did a search for Animalia Libero this month,m and it came up 0. All I could see was that he was once a community member they removed. I feel as you do, Brave Travels, but I'm glad they torpedoed themselves after they scattered us like a pile of dried up Autumn leaves. FreeSpiritMuse is back here. She posted a comment after I did this week saying Current.com always made her feel as if she were nothing.
